It was baptized as Gavea´s stone for looking like a “bird´s nest”, this huge scarp has 842 m of altitude and it is located in the south zone of Rio de Janeiro city. It calls people attention for the lack of original vegetation covering and for the erosion that has happened along the time. Its exotic form brings up controversies about its creation.

The “Phoenician registrations” found in the rocks of the stone were compared to the archaic Greek writing and Hebrew, but nothing was actually conclude.

Imposing and enclosed of legends… People say that a spaceship fell down in the area and that the pilot died. As the spaceship was damaged, the Martians sent a message to their planet asking to be rescued. They hid the spaceship inside the stone, so that they could come back to get it. They marked the stone by engraving the piolot´s face on the rock.

Another history says that two researches that spent the night in the Stone, saw a strange green light coming out from a rocky surface, and once they enterd the place, they saw a room with several human statues. This fact was confirmed by them until their death.

In 1931, an expedition of excursionists tries to find King Badezir´s grave based on the history that Phoenician navigators arrived at the brazilian coast and one of them died and was buried with a treasure in the stone. From the outside, his friends would have written an epitaph. A rabbi translated it as: “Tyro/Phenicia/Badezir/ Primogenito/ Jethbaal.”

As some people have the belief that inside the rock there are powerful spirits, it became a place for several religious acts. With the imposing “Cabeça do Imperador”, the stone became famous, mystic and full of legends.
